Project Overview
In one of their largest projects, Construction Group was tasked with preserving the historical integrity of Cathedral, a 500-year-old building in dire need of structural repair. Manual surveys had previously been employed, but they lacked the precision and depth needed to plan an efficient restoration. The firm needed an innovative solution to capture accurate data, without damaging or altering the building’s original structure.
Clients turned to Scan to BIM technology to generate a detailed 3D model of the cathedral’s interior and exterior. Using laser scanning, they captured millions of data points, providing a high-resolution digital twin of the building.
The 3D model created from Scan to BIM was then imported into a Building Information Model (BIM), enabling the Construction Group’s architects and engineers to assess the cathedral’s structure comprehensively. The BIM model allowed for virtual walkthroughs, precise measurements, and a clear view of all structural elements.
